relique studios brings the craft of ceramics from Jingdezhen, the ancient porcelain capital, to Brooklyn, New York. Each piece in our collection is hand-painted using an underglaze technique passed down through generations and perfected over years of practice.


Our designs are drawn from the natural landscape around us: rolling waves and blooming gardens. Whimsical, joyful, and built for daily life, these are pieces that we hope bring a little wonder to our ordinary lives.

Our process

Each piece begins with locally harvested kaolin clay, shaped by hand and bisque-fired to create a stable canvas for painting. Using the traditional fen-shui technique, artisans paint intricate designs with mineral pigments directly onto the unglazed porcelain, which is then glazed and fired to its final form.
