Rooted in ancient tradition
Relique Studios brings the craft of ceramics from Jingdezhen, the ancient porcelain capital, to Brooklyn, New York. Each piece in our collection is hand-painted using an underglaze technique passed down through generations and perfected over years of practice.

The process
Each piece begins with pure white porcelain clay, shaped by hand and bisque-fired to create a stable canvas for painting. Using a traditional fen-shui technique, I paint intricate designs with mineral pigments directly onto the unglazed porcelain, which is then glazed and fired to its final form.
